Summer Research Opportunities

Inclusion in the list does not constitute endorsement by 99¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ College or its faculty/staff. There is also a list of maintained by the Department of Computer Science.

Women Techmakers Scholars Program

provides female undergraduates and graduates majoring in computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related technical field with $10,000, an invitation to attend the annual Google Scholars' Retreat, and participation in a unique program that includes professional development.

Activities and Organizations

SEPC

The Student Educational Policy Committee, or SEPC, is a student-faculty liaison group which provides faculty with student input on professors, candidates, curriculum, and other departmental issues. It also organizes social events within the department. Email computer science SEPC for more information.

CS Table

99¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ College's CS Table is a weekly gathering of folks on campus (students, faculty, staff, alums, etc.) to talk about issues relating to computer science. All are welcome, although computer science students and faculty are particularly encouraged to attend. For more information, talk to any computer science faculty member.

CS Extras

CS Extras is a series of occasional talks organized and sponsored by the Department of Computer Science. If you're interested in presenting a CS Extra, talk to a computer science faculty member. 

Department Picnics

The department organizes a fall and spring picnic, often held in cooperation with the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, to help create a sense of community among computing students and faculty.

Cooperative Opportunities

Master of Computer Science Program

Computer Science majors at 99¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ College may apply for admission to a cooperative degree program leading to a B.A. from 99¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ and a Master of Computer Science (M.C.S.) from the University of Iowa in one additional year of study. Students may apply for the M.C.S. program in the spring of their third year at 99¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ, provided they meet the minimum GPA requirement and have completed 80 credits toward the B.A. at 99¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ. Under normal progress, students complete their B.A. from 99¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ at the end of the fourth year and the M.C.S. from the University of Iowa at the end of the fifth year. Similar to off-campus study arrangements, students pay 99¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ tuition and receive financial aid while dual-enrolled at 99¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ and the University of Iowa (year four). In year five of the program students’ fee and aid relationships are with the University of Iowa. Please contact Jerod Weinman if you questions about this opportunity.
