Hai-Dang Phan
Hai-Dang Phan has taught ethnic American literature, the craft of poetry, introduction to literary analysis, and studies in genre (the essay).听
He is a 2017 National Endowment for the Arts Fellow in Creative Writing.听His poems have been published in听The New Yorker,听Poetry,听Best American Poetry 2016,听New England Review, and elsewhere.听He is the recipient of fellowships and scholarships from the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference, the American Literary Translators Association, and the Thomas J. Watson Foundation. His writing has been honored with the Frederick Bock Prize from Poetry magazine and the Emerging Writers Award from New England Review.听
Born in Vietnam, he came to the U.S. as a refugee and grew up in Wisconsin. He holds an听MFA from the University of Florida听and a PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He lives in Des Moines, Iowa.听
